Where to rest your weary heads

Our wedding plans have included lots of discussions about Boston and its options for lodging. With a number of our dear friends and family coming from Pittsburgh as well as many other states and possibly a foreign country or two (does Canada count as foreign?), we wanted to make sure they had good options. We are pretty pleased with Plymouth as our guests get the bonus of visiting a popular, beautiful summer vacation area along with you know, all the wedding stuff. On the other hand, because Plymouth is so cool, lots of other people are going to have the same idea regardless of our wedding. What I'm getting at here is we do recommend you book early if you are planning to stay in Plymouth.

In Plymouth, we are recommending two lodgings as our favorites and have blocked rooms there. The links are up in the corner of the blog.

The Governor Bradford Motor Inn is definitely older but its convenience factor and price are pretty huge bonuses in the Plymouth lodge-off. They are right across the street from the ocean, have a nice pool out front, ocean view rooms vs. non-ocean view rooms, and a very easy walk (3 blocks) from the ceremony and reception as well as all of the Plymouth tourist options. All rooms have a fridge and coffee maker. Pros: convenience, amazing ocean view, reasonable price. Cons: Hasn't been modernized in a long time.

The second option is the Best Western Cold Spring where we have also blocked rooms. This venue is pretty much brand new and is the nicest Best Western I have ever seen. The staff is Pittsburgh-style friendly (ie the nicest people ever) and it is owned by a friend of Rob's mom. It is more expensive but really extremely nice. It is about 3/4 mile from the wedding and reception. Pros: Spankin' new and sparkling clean and a really nice facility. Cons: Further away from the event.

One other hotel of note is the John Carver Inn, which would not do room blocks for us. It is a large facility which is the closest of all options to the ceremony. It is also a lot pricier than the other options, but the rooms and the pool (indoor with pirate themed water slide) are very nice. A decent family restaurant is attached to the hotel (The Hearth and Kettle) which is New England's version of Eat n Park.

I did take a look at the Radisson but they said they were already booked up that weekend. You can give them a try because who knows what might change.

I have heard good things about the Hilton Garden Inn Plymouth, but haven't seen the space.

There are lots of smaller options as well for bed and breakfast type inns.

If you have any questions about recommendations or anything you want us to check out in advance for you, just give a holler.

Coming up soon -- cool stuff to do in the area.

Welcome to Our New Site

Hi everyone!

Rob and I started this blog to share news about our upcoming wedding. We can't wait to have you all join us in June here in Boston. Or more specifically, Plymouth, which is about a half hour south of Boston. You may have heard of the town, you know, the Rock and the Pilgrims and all that. But more about Plymouth later.

If you're reading this, it is probably because we've given you the link to get more information about the wedding. I'll be adding some posts very soon about us, about Plymouth, about the wedding, and all of the festivities.

Love to all of you!

Amy and Rob
